Ill-intentioned fans once again hijacked NASCAR-only Black Cup Series driver Bubba Wallaces team radio. The incident occurred this time during the 2023 All-Star race hosted by the iconic North Wilkesboro Speedway. It was the track’s return to Cup series since the last race in 1996. Wallace had a solid weekend at the 0.6 Miles track.

He competed in both the Truck Series race and the non-point paying exhibition race. He finished P5 behind race Kyle Larson on Saturday, and on Sunday, he once again finished behind Larson but was at P2. He was the best of the rest on the day, while Larson had a dominant Chevy at his disposal that helped him to finish the race with a healthy gap.

Soon after the race, some individuals got hold of the No:23 team’s radio frequency and made offensive comments. One person said, “Go back to where you came from you a******,”. After sometimes another individual was heard saying, “You’re not wanted in NASCAR,”. A spokesperson of 23XI Racing said that Wallace didn’t hear or acknowledge the message.

The 23XI team had a strong run in the one million dollars chase. Alongside Wallace, his new teammate Tyler Reddick secured a P3 finish. The two times Cup race winner said about the win, “I’m pumped for (teammate) Tyler (Reddick) finishing third. Just have to continue to carry the momentum and have some fun in Charlotte (next weekend).”

The TRD driver acknowledged that Larson was too good a match on Sunday, and it is disappointing to come close to winning $1 Million just to walk away empty-handed. He expects to build up on the raw front-finishing momentum 23XI has right now to secure the deep playoff run they wanted.

He could attack hard and have something there in the end. If this was a normal race, something to be excited about – but this was for a $1 million, and you come up short and walk away with nothing. Tail tucked between our legs, but continue to ride the momentum train…We have to keep the momentum rolling there and get ourselves deeper into the playoffs. I’m excited to be where we are right now,” Bubba Wallace said.
