23XI Racing, the NASCAR Cup Series team created by NBA legend Michael Jordon and Joe Gibbs Racing veteran Denny Hamlin celebrated the 23Xi day on April 5th. The day 4/5/23  perfectly represents the Toyota team. Toyota Camry fielded by the team are the No:45 and No:23. Both are the Jersey numbers used by Jordan when he played with Chicago Bulls.

They made their Cup series debut in the 2021 season, fielding the No:23 Car of Bubba Wallace, the sole full-time black Cup driver. They ended the season with one win, courtesy of rain at Talladega. 2022 season which marked the debut of the Next-Gen car, saw them expanding into a two-car team. They hired the services of veteran driver Kurt Busch and fielded the No:45 car for him.

Last year the 23XI Camry’s scored two wins in the Cup, both coming at Kansas. Busch won the regular season race, and Wallace won the playoff race at the track. Both drivers couldn’t get into the playoff. Busch suffered a concussion during the regular season, and since then has been side-lined. Wallace couldn’t score a win in the regular season, resulting in Chase disqualification.

Hamlin and Jordon replaced Kurt Busch with RCR prospect Tyler Reddick in the No:45 car. He already marked his debut with glory at COTA, which also showcased the huge improvement the team has made with their Road Course racing package. This also helped them to make the 23XI day more special. The team shared some photos of the Wallace-Redick duo on their official social media handle, which has gathered fans’ interest.
