Towards the end of the 2023 NASCAR Cup season, it was announced that the Legacy Motor Club team will join Team Toyota in 2024. They are set to field a new Toyota Camry from this year for their driver lineup that features Erik Jones in the No:43 car and John Hunter Nemechek, who is returning to the top after losing his seat in his rookie year in 2020, in the Noi:42 car.
It was already announced that the team’s co-owner of LMC and the seven-time Cup champion, Jimmie Johnson, will drive TRD cars in 2024. They have confirmed his schedule for the season, starting with the season opener, the Daytona 500. The Florida beachside track will witness Johnson making his Toyota debut, a scene most NASCAR fans never imagined.
Alongside the season opener, he is set to race in the Brickyard 400 and make a Cup return. Johnson will also drive in the Texas Motor Speedway event on April 14, at Dover Motor Speedway on April 28, at Kansas Speedway on both May 5 and Sept. 29, at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 26, and at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Oct.20.

It will mark the first time ever in the NASCAR Cup series that Johnson is driving a non-Chevy car. His Cup titles and 83 race wins all came while driving for Chevy giants Hendrick Motorsports. The team decided to change alliances after Toyota promised them a better deal over General Motors, who allegedly treated them like a third-tier team.
Chevy fans have turned on Jimmie Johnson
The NASCAR fans who support Chevy are enraged with the legendary racer and manufacturer for ending their partnership. They have expressed their frustrations with Johnson via social media with remarks that are a bit disrespectful.
Some fans have gone beyond a certain limit while expressing their opinions, as the Hall of Famer deserves respect and has the right to do whatever he wishes in the racing world. His Toyota move isn’t hurting anyone; on the contrary, it might produce new opportunities for the upcoming racers.

Neat! I have now "accidentally" went to 3 of his post-48 races: '23 COTA, '23 Coke 600, '24 Daytona 500!

He’s making the same mistake many athletes make, not realizing he’s not on top of his game. He was great, but not many HOF drivers still doing at the top level. There is a reason why.
