23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace had a solid 2023 season that saw him going deep into the playoff before getting eliminated last Sunday at ROVAL in the Round of 12 cut-off race. It was the first time in his career he made it into the post-season title chase. His teammate Tyler Reddick has progressed to the R-8 with a solid run at the track.

The season is marked by Wallace’s solid clutch form that saw him holding on to his point lead in the final month of the regular season and the race’s first post-season round. His surprising improvement and consistency in the Road Course races, where he always has been weak in the past, was the highlight of the season.

Talking to the media after his charge to secure a playoff progression ended in disappointment at  ROVAL, he admitted that proving people on and off the garage wrong was the fuel behind his run. He started the race on Sunday at P4, his best start in an RC race, but the traffic and a late-stage crash cost him the win.

I mean we weren’t supposed to be here. Proving a lot of people wrong…proved a lot of people in the garage wrong. You can’t really count on 23 on a road course, right?  So that’s cool ..gotta continue to work,” Bubba Wallace told Matt Weaver.

Here is how fans on social media reacted to Bubba Wallace’s claim

Fans on X (previously Twitter) mixedly reacted to the Bubba Wallace claims. At the same time, some acknowledged the solid season 23XI driver and urged him to keep his head high. At the same time, some fans used the opportunity to criticize the driver.

The negative comments are no surprise, considering Wallace is one of the most divisive characters in the garage. He and his boss, Denny Hamlin, get booed in most of the tracks regardless of their race results, and the same is reflected on social media as well.
