NASCAR fans were flabbergasted when they learned seven times Cup series champion Jimmie Johnson’s Hall of Fame entry was not a unanimous first ballot. The Former Hendrick Motorsports driver was deemed the most deserving candidate to make HOF history. JJ being denied the opportunity has forced many to question the voting system of the Hall of Fame entry.
IndyCar driver Conor Daly has part-time driven in the NASCAR Cup series for Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. The Money Team Racing was very critical of the decision. He drove in all of the last three NASCAR Cup Series entries made by the team and earned praise for his performance in the Daytona 500 in a sub-par Chevy Camaro ZL1.
In reply to Joe Gibbs Racing driver and 23Xi Racing co-owner Denny Hamlin’s rant on social media over the absurdity of the decision, Daly claimed that the verdict is one of the incidents that made him lose faith in humanity. It is unclear whether he tweeted it sarcastically or was serious about his comments.
“Not unanimous. What a joke, a disgrace to one of the sports greatest ever. Make it public who said no and remove them from the voting panel..,” three times Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin, Tweeted.
Conor Daly replied to the Tweet from the JGR driver, “There are many things I see in life that make me lose more faith in humanity. The fact that JJ didn’t get a unanimous vote is one more of those things.”

What happened at the NASCAR Hall of Fame voting?
Three retired NASCAR persons, two from the modern ballet and one from the pioneer ballot, will make it to the Hall of Fame every season. Once the nomination of Johnson and his former crew chief Chad Knaus was announced, it was clear that they both would make it this year.
But the thing fans and pundits alike were looking forward to was JJ making history as the first-ever unanimous first-time ballot. This didn’t happen, as only 53 of the 57 membered panels voted for the 83 times Cup race winner. He secured the fourth most votes in the history of HOF entry voting.
Johnson’s former teammate and mentor, Jeff Gordan, also had a similar experience when one member didn’t vote for him. The accomplishment speaks for the Legacy MC team co-owner, but still, if there was a driver since Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt that deserved unanimous recognition, that was Jimmie Johnson, and what happened during the election can’t be justified.
