“He was one heck of a wheelman”: Former NASCAR driver Bobby East dies at 37 after freak stabbing incident

Former NASCAR driver Bobby East recently passed away after a tragic yet horrific stabbing at a gas station in Westminster. East was found stabbed at a gas station on 6322 Westminster Boulevard on Thursday. East was rushed to the UCI Medical Center, where he sadly passed away.
After an investigation, the police named 27-year-old Trent William Milsap as the primary suspect for the murder. Investigators later served a warrant at 3300 block of Lincoln Avenue where Milsap was believed to be located. “Due to the level of violence he had been exhibiting, the West County SWAT Team was requested to serve the warrant,” read a statement issued by the Westminster Police Department according ABC7.
Tragic death of Bobby East leaves NASCAR World shaken
According to the police, at the time of the shooting Milsap was on parole for armed robbery and had an outstanding warrant in his name for an unrelated parole violation. The motive for stabbing is unknown, and still under investigation. East, whose father was a car builder, was the winner of the SAC Silver Crown championships in 2004, 2012 and 2013.
East was just 16 when back in 2001 he became the youngest person ever to win a feature USAC National Midget race. East won 15 USAC races in 2004 and soon dabbled in a short NASCAR career. He made 11 career starts in what is now NASCAR’s Xfinity Series and had two top-10 finishes in 31 career Truck Series races. Upon his death NACAR issued the following statement:
“NASCAR is saddened to learn of the tragic death of Bobby East. We extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Bobby, a true racer.”
