Former Hollywood child superstar Frankie Muniz has shocked the NASCAR nation with his impressive driving skill. The celebrity driver is in his rookie season in the ARCA Mendes Series, driving the No:30 car for Rette Jones Racing. He made his debut, marking his NASCAR debut in the season opener at Daytona.

The Malcolm In the Middle star finished the race at P11 and was a Top 10 contender throughout the race. He even drove inside the top 5 for a few laps before getting caught in a small multi-car spin. He joined the likes of Paul Newman, Marty Robbin, and Jason Priestley as Hollywood celebrities to race in NASCAR.

Muniz, who hails from Phoenix, will run his second race of the series on his home track on Friday. The race will also mark his professional home track debut. He hopes to put on a show for his fans and potentially become the new town hero. Muniz also wants to represent the local business that came forward as his sponsors.

When you race in your own backyard, you certainly want to put on a show. We have a lot of local support, not to mention some local marketing partners who jumped on board for this race, plus the nonstop support from the grandstands too,” Frankie Muniz said.

We are taking that same sturdy approach that we did at Daytona, where we took our time, made the most of every lap turned, and hope when the checkered flag waves on Friday night, we’re in a good spot,” Frankie Muniz added.

RJR owner Rette Jones took a big risk when appointing Muniz as his driver, as there was a high chance of failing on and off track. He convinced few doubters that they are wrong at Daytona and expects the same at Phoenix, where the ACRA series drivers will go ahead against ARCA west series drivers.

Phoenix is a lot different than Daytona, but Frankie has been working hard for weeks trying to adequately prepare himself for Friday night. With the race being a combination race with the ARCA Menards Series West, there are going to be some new players that Frankie will have to battle with,” Jones said.

But through the unknowns of Phoenix, I think Frankie will continue to showcase his ability as a race car driver, and we can have another solid performance to kick off our 2023 season,”  Jones added.
