“Great push by my teammate right there,” Corey Heim elated after earning yet another Truck Series win at WWTR

Corey Heim
Corey Heim who sports the No.51 Toyota Tundra for Kyle Busch Motorsports as a part-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver went on to win his second Truck Series victory in his nine career starts in over two years of racing in this NASCAR National Series. He also competes part-time in the ARCA Menards Series driving the No.20 Toyota Camry for Venturini Motorsports.
NASCAR returned to the World Wide Technology Raceway which is also known as the Gateway Motorsports Park and they hosted what was to be an intense Camping World Truck Series Toyota 200 at Gateway where Corey Heim, Christian Eckes, and Chandler Smith were battling it all out on the track with 3 laps to go and Tanner Gray brought out the caution forcing the race into an OT.
Corey Heim was glad he could capitalize on the restart and make a move to acquire the lead and carry on to win the race eventually after receiving a push from Kyle Busch Motorsports teammate Chandler Smith who later held off Christian Eckes but he managed to get around Smith and acquire a second position finish while another crash occurred moments before the race ended taking No’s 5, 22 and 42 out.
“I can’t believe I got the bottom right there,” Corey Heim left shocked after pulling off his second career victory

Corey Heim was left ecstatic as he secured his second Truck Series victory and he is delighted with the push he got from teammate Chandler Smith which aided him in acquiring the lead he went on to say that he couldn’t believe what just happened.
“I can’t believe I got the bottom right there. That’s unbelievable, great push by my teammate right there,” said Corey Heim.
Christian Eckes who was in the lead before Tanner Gray’s crash gave out the caution and he had to compromise his position for the restart and ended up with a bad one leaving him battling for a second or third-place finish, he struggled in a similar way at the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway earning a fourth-place finish.
“Just didn’t get a good launch, two of the last three races we’ve been leading when a caution comes out late,” said Christian Eckes.
Heim’s teammate Chandler Smith had a tough day too despite leading Stage 1 and also maintaining a top-three position while he got spun out by Grant Enfinger causing damage to his right rear fuel cap position leaving him to struggle with refueling and that ended up costing him his position on the track, but he managed to finish third when the checkered flag was waved.
“To be honest, if the 23 doesn’t run out of talent in Stage 2 or whatever it was, we would have probably lapped half the field. Our truck was stupid, stupid good, that just sucks really bad. There at the end, our tires are probably beat four times as much as anyone in the field and we were still right there,” said Chandler Smith.
With a fierce race at WWTR coming to an end with Corey Heim as the triumphant, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will head to Sonoma Raceway next week.
