Hailie Deegan is still looking for Xfinity series opportunities

ThorSports signed young female NASCAR prospect Hailie Deegan for their 2023 Truck series lineup short after their move to the Ford Garage. The 2021 drivers’ championship-winning team has provided Deegan with the best crew and resources she needs to fight for her first NASCAR race win next season.

In her third year in the Truck Series, Deegan has one of the best teammates she can turn to for help at ThorSports. Three times Truck champion Matt Crafton, 2021 champion Ben Rhodes, and two-time race winner Ty Majeski will be her teammates in 2023. Her new crew chief Rich Lushes led Rhodes to the championship in 2021. She is expected to produce performance a level up from her last two years at DGR.

Joining ThorSport in 2023 wasn’t Deegan’s goal after the end of last season. She was looking for an Xfinity series promotion, but Ford’s limited presence in the second tier of NASCAR came as a significant barrier. Signing the new deal hasn’t stopped her from looking for an Xfinity car. The Deegan crew is looking for a part-time schedule to run next year.

“I’ll look for opportunities to go do a few Xfinity races. Obviously, nothing full-time is gonna come up, but I think that being able to go and do a few Xfinity races would definitely be awesome,” Hailie Deegan said.

The team’s quality influenced Hailie Deegan’s decision to join ThorSport

Deegan was hoping for a quality team to join for the 2023 season. She said, “I think whether the option came up to do Xfinity or Trucks for this being my third year, I would say wherever I ended up I just wanted to be in a quality place,”.  

She wanted to surround herself with people who cared about her racing. Deegan said,  “I just wanted to be somewhere where I truly felt I was around the most quality equipment, people, and quality of people who care about my racing,”.

She is finding the family vibe that she was looking for at ThorSport. Deegan said, “I think that’s a huge thing that I’m already feeling here at ThorSport is just accepted. It feels like a family environment. You kind of get that small team, family vibe, but on a big scale of a super successful team, and I’d say that’s the same thing you feel with Ford,”.
