The NASCAR Truck Series race at Nashville saw an impressive race where Carson Hocevar scored his second-ever race win, holding Zane Smith and Nick Sanchez. But once again, it was the ThorSports driver Hailie Deegan and rival Lawless Alan that took the spotlight following yet another incident on the track.

Deegan got lost on just lap five of the race and got into Alan, who was on his outside, sending him to the wall. His team failed to repair the car before the DVP clock ran out, earning him a DNF. Driving behind the duo, Jack Wood also surfed damages during the wreck. But he was able to continue the race, unlike Alan.

While Hailie Deegan quickly acknowledged via her radio that she accidentally got lost, and that’s how the incident occurred. She said, “I am sorry…I got lose.” Alan, who had to sit out the entire race, was furious and didn’t hold back his criticism while talking to the media after being released from the infield care center.

“I don’t think there is much to say. She is talentless. She…just wrecked me. I just don’t understand what the move was about…it was not the first time she has wrecked me. She does it to fu**ing everybody,” Alan said after the race.

The Truck series might not be the right path to success for Hailie Deegan

Deegan was one of the most hyped drivers when she made her way to the Truck series, producing solid runs in the ARCA series races. But over the last three years, she hasn’t produced a race that showcased she deserves a promotion to the next level—her first two seasons with DGR.

Joining a team with two former champions and a prodigy in 2023 at ThorSports put more pressure on her to perform. While Ben Rhodes, Matt Crafton, and Ty Majeski have consistently fought for the Top 10 this season, Deegan has just scored 1 top 10 this year. From 13 races, she finished outside the top 20 in eight of them.

At the same time, she impressed in her sole Xfinity Series start that came in Las Vegas, where she finished at P1 in the SS-Green Light Racing car. Many in the racing community have previously said she is better off fighting in the Xfinity series. Her exclusive contract with Ford limits her option in the second tier.
