Hendrick Motorsports names Greg Ives replacement for 2023

Alex Bowman‘s crew chief Greg Ives will exit the No:48 team by the end of 2022. He leaves the team after managing Bowman’s races for the last five years.
He will be replaced at Hendrick Motorsports by former crew chief of Martin Truex Jr., Blake Harris. He was the 2017 cup winning crew chief with Furniture Row Motorsports.
Blake is a Texas native who joined NASCAR at the age of 18. He also worked as a crew chief for Kurt Busch. He is currently employed at Front Row Motorsports as Michael McDowell crew chief.
He will join Hendrick Motorsports in mid-November after completing his contracted tenure with Front Row. He has been one of the major factors in the 2022 being McDowell’s best cup season.

Jeff Andrews, president and general manager of Hendrick Motorsports, pointed out that Blake Harris is a tremendous addition to HMS. He added that Blake is an excellent fit for the HMS culture
“Blake brings a tremendous amount of talent to our organization. In our conversations, it quickly became clear that he’s an excellent culture fit and believes in the way we approach competing and winning,” Jeff Andrews said.
Jeff Andrew’s added that Blake Harris is the perfect person to continue the building the winning team Greg Ives assembled. He said, “Greg has assembled a winning team, and we believe Blake is the perfect person to continue that work,”
Blake Harris believes the opportunity to manage HMS Ally sponsored car is huge. He said, “The opportunity to work with a winning driver like Alex, an engaged sponsor like Ally and a championship team like Hendrick Motorsports is huge,”.
Blake Harris said that when he moved to North Carolina in 2005 to pursue his NASCAR dream, his goal was to manage a championship caliber team. He expect to build something special with HMS in the coming years.
“When I moved to North Carolina in 2005, my goal was to become a crew chief for a top-caliber organization that could win races and compete for titles. I’m grateful for the chance to fulfill that dream and look forward to building something special with the No. 48 team,” Blake Harris said.
