Chase Briscoe who drives the No.14 Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing competing full-time in the Cup Series appears to have made up his mind to take part in more grassroots level races from this year onwards.
His 2022 season so far has been kind to Chase Briscoe with a victory at Ruoff Mortgage 500 and all his other standings spread out through the grid as he currently stands 10th with 245 points and will be starting at P17 in this week’s Geico 500 at the Talladega Superspeedway.
“I feel a lot more comfortable now than I was at that point,” says Chase Briscoe
Chase Briscoe said at a recent interview that he competed in around 30 dirt events in his part-time year with NASCAR in 2018 and didn’t take part in any other event in 2019 and 2020 apart from the Chili Bowl. He added by saying that he took part in only about two sprint races last year,” said Chase Briscoe.
“In 2018, that part-time year I did in NASCAR, I ran like 25 to 30 dirt races but from then on, 2019, 2020, I didn’t run anything other than the Chili Bowl. In 2021, I think I ran two sprint car races and that was it,” said Chase Briscoe.
Chase Briscoe grew up racing in dirt events but he eventually ended up racing in NASCAR taking part in very few other races he wanted to focus on NASCAR first because he felt that he hasn’t made his name in NASCAR yet and now he feels much more comfortable and has his mind made up.
“I just wanted to focus on the pavement side. I didn’t feel like I was really established as a NASCAR driver. I feel a lot more comfortable now than I was at that point of my career. Now I feel like I have my feet on the ground a little bit more,” said Chase Briscoe.
He concluded by saying that the other racing categories were grabbing his attention too but he wanted to stay focused on NASCAR races.
“The (outside) racing was definitely something I still wanted to do but I didn’t want it to be my main focus, I wanted it to be the NASCAR stuff first,” concluded Chase Briscoe.
