‘I don’t know what to expect,’ William Byron claims the Next-Gen car has made drivers relearn every track so far in the schedule

NASCAR introduced the Next-Generation cars to the grid in 2022 in its efforts to make the racing closer and fair. It is hard to say that the introduction of the Next-Gen car has caused a radical change in the usual front running pack but it has allowed the backpackers to get into the mix at the front.
Hendrick Motorsport has been the dominating force of the 2022 season as the team has so far won 4 races thanks to their drivers Kyle Larson and Alex Bowman who won one cup race for the team and William Byron who secured 2 wins for the team.
Now William Byron has come forth suggesting that the Next-Gen car has made the drivers unlearn and learn things to fit in the tracks.
William Byron on relearning the track in Next-Gen cars

William Byron has acknowledged that the next-gen cars have deprived the teams of the opportunity to look into old notes of tracks to create new strategies for each track. He went on to add that the Dover track’s less downforce means that the Dover race will be challenging. William Byron added that he feels very much excited about how things are going to play out on the concrete track.
“I’d say every week is a new week. It really is. We look at our old notes for balance and things like that, but even that’s kind of changed,” William Byron said.
“I think Dover’s going to be eye-opening to see how this car gets around because you know it has way less downforce. Downforce is key at Dover. I’m very interested to see how that feels and how that plays out because I don’t know what to expect,” William Byron added.
“I want to win just as much as everyone else, if not more,” Chase Elliott on his Dover outing as his chase for a silverware continuous

William Byron’s Hendrick Motorsport teammate Chase Elliott, who leads the championship table has come forth acknowledging that he has the same urge for a win just as everyone else on the track. He went on to say that motivation is the source of his energy going forward and he will always do his best to see where he ends up in the end.
“I want to win just as much as everyone else, if not more. I always want to win, and I always have an expectation of myself to want to go and perform. That expectation is the only one that matters to me, and I want to do the job to the best of my ability always, whether you have a win in the bank or not. For me, that doesn’t make me try any harder. I’m going to do my best and see where we end up,” Chase Elliott added.
