Racing legend Toine Hezemans and Dutch entrepreneur Ernst Berg joined hand this year to form the first European NASCAR outfit to race in the cup series. Team Hezeberg ran on part-time bases this year in several cup races including the Daytona 500 their No:27 Ford Mustang. Now the team has signed up former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat to drive team No:26 Toyota Camry alongside Toine Hezemans in the No:27 car.

Daniil Kvyat is set to drive for the team this weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and will also be driving the car in Watkins Glen and Charlotte Roval’s road course races. Daniil Kvyat made his name in the motorsports Racing world with his 2013 GP3 championship wins which paved the way to the 2014 Formula 1 debut for Torro Rosso, the sister team of RedBull Racing.

The 28-years old hold the record for the youngest F1 point scorer a record he earned at the age of 19. He also holds the record for the second youngest driver to secure a podium finish. Daniil Kvyat F1 career came to an end in 2021 after he was relieved from the reserve driver duty of Alpine Racing. He will be hoping to make his NASCAR debut worth it in his effort to get back to the top of Motorsport racing.

Daniil Kvyat reacted to the opportunity given to him saying he is happy to be able to make his cup debut at Indy as he always has been passionate about racing NASCAR, which is the premier racing event in the US. He went on to say that he finds NASCAR always intriguing as it’s one of the purest forms of motorsport for him.

I’m very happy to be able to make my NASCAR Cup Series debut at Indianapolis. I have always been passionate about racing in NASCAR, the top form of motorsport in the United States. NASCAR has always been intriguing to me, as it is a pure form of motorsport to me,” Daniil Kvyat said.

Daniel Kvyat went on to say that he is looking forward to being successful in this form of racing as he wishes to extend this debut run to contending for wins and championships in the future. He went on to thank all the individuals behind his debut such as the likes of Josh Reaume, Toine Hezemans, Ernst Berg..etc.

I’m looking forward to being successful in this form of motorsport and I hope to contend for wins and championships in the future. I can’t thank NASCAR, Josh Reaume, Toine Hezemans, Ernst Berg, and everybody at Team Hezeberg enough for the opportunity,” Daniil Kvyat added.

Daniil Kvyat went on to explain that the people at the Team Hezemans shop have been working hard to provide a good machine and experience for him. He added that as per his knowledge Indianapolis is a challenging circuit for him and is looking forward to the challenge in his NASCAR cup debut.  

The guys at the shop have been working tirelessly to prepare the machine and me for this experience. It will be my first time in Indianapolis, and I am looking forward to seeing it in person. From what I have seen on video, Indianapolis is a challenging circuit, but I’m looking forward to that challenge, along with competing in the NASCAR Cup Series,” Daniil Kvyat explained.
