Chase Briscoe who drives the No.14 Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing as a full-time NASCAR Cup Series driver and as a part-time competitor in the NASCAR Xfinity Series driving the No.08 Ford Mustang for SS Green Light Racing has won the pole finishing first in the qualifier at the World Wide Technology Raceway and will start ahead of the pack in the Enjoy Illinois 300 which will mark the first time of the National event on the track leaving the racers and teams excited and also terrified as to how things will turn out on race day.
The Cup Series race is the first-ever event at this particular track where only the Xfinity Series and Camping World Truck Series races were hosted before and on Friday, June 3rd, NASCAR legend Richard Petty inaugurated the Enjoy Illinois 300 Practice event which lasted for an hour to provide extra practice time for the drivers given that it is also a new track for the Next-Gen car which has also never been to this challenging track and teams as well as the drivers will get to learn a lot about this track once they’ve raced on it.
“To do it at an inaugural event is even cooler,” says Chase Briscoe as he acquires the pole at WWTR
Chase Briscoe was awarded the pole position for the Enjoy Illinois 300 after posting the fastest lap and clearing all post-qualifier inspections successfully he lives just a few hours away from his hometown and he is really excited to put on a good show for his family and he is also excited to have won his first career pole position which is really special to him.
“Outside of Indianapolis, this is definitely the closest race track to my hometown. It is only three or four hours. I have a lot of folks here so hopefully, I can put on a show tomorrow. Yeah, I mean it is cool to be on the pole, right? I say it all the time, to be able to say you are a winner in the Cup Series and now a pole winner is really special,” said Chase Briscoe.
Chase Briscoe further added by saying that to do achieve such a feat at an opening event means much more and what matters to him is the actual race and feels that qualifying isn’t just enough and he hopes to perform well owing to the fact that he feels he didn’t do well this year and with a car quick enough to make it to the lead he hopes to also win the race.
“To do it at an inaugural event is even cooler. That is what pays the points and what you came here to do, race, not qualify. Qualifying is just icing on the cake. I think we have a good car that is capable of winning tomorrow, that is something as a driver I haven’t done a good enough job of this year. Hopefully, we can put it all together tomorrow,” concluded Chase Briscoe.
With a pole position for the Enjoy Illinois 300 and a 13th place position on the standings, a win at this track will do Chase Briscoe a ton of good.
