Kyle Larson who drives the No.5 for Hendrick Motorsports competing full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series seems to be really keen on participating in the Indy 500 and debuting his career in open-wheel races.
The California native is undoubtedly one of the best racers out there and has had an electrifying season so far with six top 10s and a win at Auto Club Speedway and he seems to not stop as he went on and achieved a P2 in the recent AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway battling for the lead until the final lap.
“I would love to race the Indy 500 someday,” says Kyle Larson looking forward to racing at the Indy 500 soon

Kyle Larson recently appeared on a podcast where Jeff Gluck asked him about the open-wheel race. Larson responded by saying that he would be delighted to race the Indy 500 and that he considers it the biggest race in the world and wants to do it with a great team and sees the need to be prepared and genuinely wants to compete.
“I would love to race the Indy 500 someday, to me, it is the biggest race in the world, and I want to do it, for sure. But I want to do it with a great team, and I want to do it where I feel like I am prepared and can prepare because I don’t want to go and just do it to say that I did it,” said Kyle Larson.
He also added that a decade ago he would’ve done it just for the sake of a feather in the cap but now he actually wants to compete as he sees himself capable of winning it and would greatly appreciate the opportunity to get familiar with the race procedure and rules and regulations.
“I think maybe 10 years ago, I would have wanted to do it to say I did it, but now I want to do it and know that I have a shot to win. I want to be able to go test. Heck, I would like to go race before the Indy 500, somewhere, whether it is a road course or an oval, just to get familiar with pit stops and procedures for restarts,” added Kyle Larson.
He concluded by saying that he is aware of the fact that he won’t be in his prime form forever and would like to do it before it’s too late and he would definitely race the Indy 500 sometime in the near future if not soon.
“I feel like that window of doing it and feeling like you’re in your prime to do it is sometime in the next three, four, five years, but it is definitely on my bucket list of races,” concluded Kyle Larson.
Kyle Larson who stands 9th in the points table with 376 points can look to Jimmie Johnson who will be racing the Indy 500 this season.
