“I’m really excited to have this deal done” Erick Jones extends his contract with Petty GMS Racing for 2023

Erick Jones will enter the upcoming Indy cup race full of confidence and encouragement as he has penned down his contract extension with Petty GMS Racing for the coming year. The No:43 Chevy Camaro ZL1 driver joined Richard Petty Motorsports in 2021 and remained with the team in 2022 after it merged with the GMS Racing team.

Erick Jones who already bested his 2021 season outing with his 6 top 10 runs, in which two were top 5 runs, this season so far which also resulted in PGMSR choosing to keep the 26 years old while offloading his teammate Ty Dillon towards the end of this season. The team will be hoping to convert this confidence-winning signing to help in their pursuit of the 2022 playoff where only a race win stands between him and the dream.

Talking about his contract extension Erick Jones acknowledged that he is really excited to finally announce the news as he really likes to have his Petty GMS crew around. He added that he feels like with each week they are closing in on the all-important win and   having the knowledge of staying with the team for one more year helps in the development of  the  car for the future. He added that he hopes to finish season on  ahigh note with a win.

I’m really excited to have this deal done and finally be able to talk about it. I really like the group I have at Petty GMS and working with (crew chief) Dave (Elenz). Each week I feel like we get better and better and put ourselves in contention to win. Knowing where I’ll be driving allows us to really focus on building the team and making our cars better. I’m looking forward to finishing this season strong, hopefully with a win, and continuing to build on what we started this year with Petty GMS,” Erik Jones said.

Talking about the contract extension chairman of Petty GMS and NASCAR legend Richard Petty, acknowledge that the team has a strong relationship with the driver and he has represented the team well on the track since he made his debut. He points out that it’s nice to have the youngster driving the No:43 car and building its legacy with his cup performances.

We’ve had a great relationship with Erik (Jones) since he joined RPM and now Petty GMS. Erik’s done an outstanding job representing No. 43 and all of the fans who love to see that car on the track. It’s nice to have Erik locked in for the years to come and continue building on the legacy of the No. 43 as he continues his Cup career,” says Petty GMS Chairman Richard Petty.

Petty GMS owner Maury Gallagher talking about the signing also acknowledged that they are thrilled to have him signed for next year as he has been brilliant for the team since he made his debut for them. He pointed out that the No:43 team has shown great growth potential this season which they hope to see continue.
