‘It’s a hungry team and hungry confident,’ Brad Keselowski reveals that he and RFK racing are ready to bounce back after an early NASCAR penalty setback

Brad Keselowski made the move of his NASCAR career at the start of the 2022 season as the 2012 Cup Series Champion moved from his Team Penske No:2 car to the No:6 car of Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing, where he is a co-owner and driver. It is always hard for a team in their first cup season and Brad Keselowski is facing that challenge.

But his hopes for a good start to his new season in the Next-Gen car were shattered when NASCAR penalized the RFK Racing team and driver for unauthorized modifications to their car’s single vendor-supplied parts. Brad Keselowski endured a 100 championship point deduction alongside suspension for Crew Chief as well as the hefty fine.

Now Brad Keselowski whose only hope in the 2022 season will be an entry to the playoff by securing a win soon has come forth to share his opinion on how the penalty has played out for his team and what are their plans for securing a playoff spot.

Brad Keselowski acknowledged that there has been a lot of temptation to throw in the towel mostly from his fans but added that he is nowhere close to that. He went on to say that he has a long-time commitment to RFK racing and the team is prepared for the bumps ahead. Brad Keselowski said when asked about his plans on getting to the play he suggested that the team believes they can win at least one race shortly which is their only shot at a title.

There’s a lot of temptation to throw in the towel, I think more so from some of those that have been my fans, but that said, I’m nowhere close to that. This isn’t a six-race deal. It’s not even a one-year deal. It’s not even a two-year deal. This is a long-term commitment and in that long-term commitment, we were prepared for there to be bumps in the road,Brad Keselowski said.

I think we can win any one of them,” Brad Keselowski added when asked about winning races in near future.

Brad Keselowski went on to list out the challenges he faced in building the new RFK team such as building such a strong pit as he has now and getting skilled engineers and a crew chief.  He went on to say that the RFK is hungry and confident like never before for a win through the penalty endured was demotivating. Brad Keselowski went on to suggest that the penalty was a blessing in disguise for them as it helped to get the parts of the team that was working average to perform well.

“It took me a lot of time in previous roles to get a pit crew that was capable of competing at a high level and this pit crew I have on pit road is phenomenal. I’m excited about the relationship I have with Matt McCall and the race engineers and my specific race team. I’ve got a really, really sound road crew and crew chief and engineering team,” Brad Keselowski said.

“It’s a hungry team and hungry confident. They want to win and they’re all eager to return to where they were in the decade before. I like the drive. Of course, the penalty and all that stuff were somewhat demotivating, but I think we’re in a better space for that now and it actually was probably good for us. It probably was a wake-up call-in areas that weren’t moving fast enough to improve, and ultimately, we’ll be better for it, and so will the sport,” Brad Keselowski added.
