‘It’s going to be an upward trend for us,’ Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is optimistic about the No:47 team’s growth though he is ‘frustrated’ about not being in the Top 15

The 2022 season so far has been a special one for Ricky Stenhouse Jr. as the No. 47 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for JTG Daugherty Racing driver is in red-hot form going into the All-Star race at Texas Motor speedway. The 34 years old have secured four Top 10 finishes in 2022 which is twice as many Top 10 finishes he was able to secure in his previous seasons with JTG.
The former Talladega Cup Race winner came close to his third career Cup race win this season at Dover but came up short. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finished inside the top 10 thrice other than his Dover P2, coming at California, Darlington, and Last week at Kansas. The 2011 and 2012 Xfinity champion has three successive top 10 finishes in the last three rounds.
But contrary to the previous season all of Stenhouse’s finishes out of the Top 10 were out of the Top 20 while he was a regular Top 20 finisher last season. Now Ricky Stenhouse Jr. come forth expressing his opinion on their team’s growth and his frustration towards not finishing inside top 15 in the championship table so far.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. acknowledged that it’s frustrating for him to be not part of the top 15 in terms of championship points scored but also acknowledged the fact that the spots left on the to for other teams to occupy are fewer considering the fact that there are Four Joe Gibbs Racing cars, Four Hendrick Motorsport cars, Four Stewart-Haas Racing cars, and Four Penske at the top taking up the spots as most o their drivers are championship contenders.
“It is frustrating to not be in the top 15 in points, but you look at the big teams and when you’ve got four Gibbs, four Hendrick, four Stewart-Haas, and basically four Penske, those cars right there take up a ton of spots in points — those teams have cars running for championships,” Ricky Stenhouse Jr. said.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. went on to say that he likes what his team did so far with the car and he believes it is going to continue. He went on to say that they have been working with the same car for years over all the race tracks which he believes can get up to mark in terms of speed and consistency. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. added that his JTG car is going on an upward trend.
“So, I like what we’re doing with our team right now. This car is going to continue, I think, to let us evolve and get better because we’re working with the same car every single racetrack and hopefully year after year, and I think that’s where we’ll finally start seeing a little bit more speed and a little more consistency out of what we’re doing at JTG Daugherty Racing,” says Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
“It’s a process anytime you change anything, and I think it’s going to be an upward trend for us,” Ricky Stenhouse Jr. added.
