During his successful NASCAR career, Jimmie Johnson has won seven Cup Series championships, a record tied with Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. He has been in the game for over 20 years and secured 83 wins and 374 top-ten finishes in the Cup Series. The wait is finally over for this NASCAR legend, as he was inducted into the Hall of Fame Class of 2024.
Though this is already a special moment for Jimmie Johnson, his crew chief Chad Knaus also entered the Hall of Fame with him. The duo won many races and championships together. Johnson spoke about his long journey in NASCAR and was filled with emotions. He expressed his gratitude and thanked his loved ones for being through all of it.
Jimmie Johnson opened up on FOX: NASCAR, “It’s just a huge honor. I had a feeling I’ll get in at some point. I think this opportunity will allow me and other inductees to take a deep breath and enjoy the next eight months. And savor our life’s work. I’m thankful for all the people that contributed throughout my career, Mr. Hendrick, Jeff Gordon, my family, my wife, and my kids. It’s been a long journey, and all the emotions are running together right now.”

Johnson spoke about his success. He explained that people have dreams and hope for things, but the reality is that one must go out and earn it. Johnson finds it difficult to believe that he has lived this life and the events that took place. He credited the people responsible for the No.48 car’s success and claimed they helped him earn this opportunity of being inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
In his emotional speech, Jimmie Johnson revealed two of his favorite races in his long career. He said it was his first win at Fontana in April 2002. It gave him security by knowing he would have a job after that. Johnson also mentioned his seventh Cup championship-winning race. He revealed there were plenty of emotions that night.
Jimmie Johnson was delighted to go into the NASCAR Hall of Fame with his crew chief Chad Knaus. He claimed it was fitting and honored the Hendrick legacy they both have been a part of. It was also a moment of joy for Rick Hendrick, who guided them from the early stages of their NASCAR career.
