Joey Gase had an eventful Xfinity Series race at Richmond. His exploits ended on stage one after he got wrecked by former close associate Dawson Cram. The No:35 Chevy driver was furious over the wreck and didn’t hesitate to retaliate.

Gase ripped off the bumper plate of his Camaro that had huge damage due to the contact with the wall. He then waited on the track till Cram completed a lap and when he got back to the area where the incident occurred, he threw the panel at his rival’s car.

Joey Gase has never been a stranger to such NASCAR moments as he often has found himself in such situations. The hilarious thing about the incident was the Chevy driver’s decision to throw the panel as most often drivers show retaliation by throwing race helmets.

At the end of the day, Gase can’t be blamed for being frustrated at the moment. He is driving a car that he has worked hard to field and being an owner-driver, the wreck adds another level of disappointment. Yet fans on social media aren’t fully behind Gase due to his eventful past.

Here are how fans reacted to the Joey Gase-Dawson Cram incident

Fans on social media had a mixed set of reactions to the incident. Some sided with the owner driver and pointed out that he shouldn’t have suffered such a fate. These fans also criticized Cram for wrecking someone like Gase who has helped him grow in his career.

Some fans were very critical of Joey Gase and claimed that the racer’s retaliation was just him showing off to get attention. Few also claimed that it was done to give his sponsors more attention. But Gase’s strong criticism of Cram post-race showed these claims are most probably not valid.

Online trolls aside, a serious penalty might be on the way of Gase from NASCAR. It was a serious safety violation and is deserving of a penalty as he himself as well as other drivers in a risky situation.
