Kamui Kobayashi second start in NASCAR ended in a disappointing P29 owing to multiple incidents.

The NASCAR Cup series race at COTA was eventful with drivers going hard at each other through out the day. Tow Toyota drivers were in the middle of most of the incidents today. Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell was the aggressor in multiple occasion on the day, while 23XI Racing’s ringer Kamui Kobayashi was at the receiving end of aggressive moves from other drivers.

Kamui Kobayashi made his second ever NASCAR Cup start on Sunday, with his last one coming in Indy last season. Just like last year the Japanese Supercars racing legend failed to impress as the NASCAR field proved too aggressive for him. He had multiple run-ins with Josh Berry of Stewart Haas Racing and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. of JTDG Racing.

He was racing behind Josh Berry and Brad Keselowski coming to Turn 11 in the race. The Toyota driver squeezed his ay up through the middle and Forced the No:4 Ford slow down. But as the No:50 Camary turned in the corner, Berry came from behind to bump him and later turn him 180 degrees.

Kobayashi went onto to finish the race at P29 while Berry had a worst result. He was able to secure just a P35, making him the worst SHR driver of the day. Keselowski also didn’t had the best of finishes’ as he was able to secure just a P33. At the same time Stenhouse Jr. was able to secure a better finish than Kobayashi with a P28.

NASCAR fans on social media had a mixed set reactions to Josh Berry-Kamui Kobayashi clash

Fans on x were quick to react to a video shared online about the incident by NASCAR’s official page. Most were upset by how aggressive the Kamui Kobayashi was racer thought out the race at COTA and claimed that he deserves more respect on the track.

Some fans also questioned Berry’s underwhelming performance as Kevin Harvick’s replacement so far in 2024. He hasn’t been able to produce a solid run with the team. They believes his aggression on Kobayashi was out of frustration on himself.

The fans were right to point out that at Indy as well as one Sunday at COTA, the way Kobayushi was raced seemed unfair and over aggressive. Such a legendary figure the Motor racing experiencing such a harsh treatment isn’t good for the sport and if he makes a third start in NASCAR, such incidents shouldn’t occur.
