Shane van Gisbergen became an overnight NASCAR sensation when he won the inaugural Chicago Street race. The three-time supercars champion used the superior street racing experience he had to his advantage on his Cup debut with Trackhouse Racing’s Project 91 Chevy and won the event with an impressive run.

This was enough to get him the traction he needed to make a full-time NSASCAR move. He is set to drive full-time in the Xfinity Series next year with Kaulig Racing. SVG will make selected Cup Series and Truck Series starts as part of his development deal as well. Now, Hendrick Motorsports’ 2021 Cup champion Kyle Larson has given him another proposal.

While learning and refining his stock car racing skills in the division, SVG will get six chances to prove himself in the Cup Series. His first Cup race of 2023 will be the race at COTA followed by a scheduled run to defend his Chicago Street race title.

Before his Chicago run he will make his Cup Superspeedway debut at Talladega and is set to race at the track during the playoffs as well. He will race in Charlotte, Watkins Glen, and at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the playoffs as well.
