The 2024 NASCAR season will be a monumental phase of Hendrick Motorsports driver Kyle Larson’s career. He will attempt the prestigious double duty during the Labor Day weekend. Larson will drive in the Crown Jewel IndyCar race Indy 500 and the longest NASCAR race, the Coco Cola 600, on the same day within hours.
He would become the first driver since Kurt Busch in 2016 to attempt racing 1100 miles the same day. Larson is expected to fight for wins in both events, with IndyCar legends such as Alexander Rossi predicting him to be a contender. Larson will have a strong car from Arrow McLaren with HMS baking to race at Brickyard.
Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports reported that to give Larson more breathing space, NASCAR won’t require him to attend the drivers meeting ahead of the race. Though it has become a formality in the last few years, all drivers are required to attend the briefing before the race. Drivers who attempted the double duty before him were given similar special treatment.
NASCAR says it likely will not require Kyle Larson to make the drivers meeting for Charlotte (those have become more ceremonial the last couple years).Pockrass posted on X.

Kyle Larson will have to start at the rear at Coca-Cola 600
One of the major challenges ahead of Larson is that he has to start at the back for the 600-mile race. Sod had to rush his way back to Charlotte from Indianapolis straight after the 500-mile event just to start at the back like every racer who did the same before him.
As pointed out by Pockrass, this puts him in a tricky situation. The stage points have become one of the most important factors for drivers in the playoff push. The driver needs to be in a better start position to achieve better finishes in stages.
