Denny Hamlin yet again proved why he is considered one of the most talented racers of his generation last Sunday at Bristol. He won the Food City 500 using his racing expertise with his tire management being the key to success. Following this, Richard Petty‘s son and NASCAR race analyst Kyle Petty, has applauded Hamlin for his driving ability and named him as one of the most prestigious drivers in the sport’s history.
Denny Hamlin produced a masterclass performance on how to nurse the tires under extreme fall off conditions at Bristol, a race where only five drivers finished on the lead lap. His dominant win did not go under the radar of various experts and pundits. Kyle Petty who despite having a bitter history with Hamlin has asserted that the 43-year-old is a NASCAR Hall of Famer and deserves to be on the list of the greatest racers of all time.
[On] Sunday afternoon, we saw an artist. And that artist’s name is Denny Hamlin. Denny Hamlin ran through the limits of his tires, but never over the limit. That’s a hard, hard thing to do. It’s hard to be that patient. That’s why Denny Hamlin has won so many races. That’s why Denny Hamlin is a Hall of Famer. Believe me, a Hall of Famer. That’s why Denny Hamlin, whether he ever wins a championship or not, will be one of the greatest racecar drivers ever to set his rear end in a car because of what you saw Sunday afternoon.Kyle Petty said via NASCAR.com.
The 63-year-old claimed that the JGR driver was an artist with the way he drove his racecar. Moreover, he reckoned that the No.11 driver despite not being able to win a title, deserves a place in the NASCAR Hall of Fame as he has amassed 52 wins since his debut in 2007.
Denny Hamlin injuncts Goodyear on the tire troubles at Bristol
Goodyear claimed that they brought the same tire compounds and used the same formula for the tires used last year. On the contrary, the 43-year-old though being able to master the incomprehensibly high tire degradation, seemed skeptical about the tire compounds brought in Tennessee. Subsequently, after the race, Hamlin advised the tire manufacturer to investigate what was wrong with tire compounds this weekend.

I have this plea to whoever was responsible for the mixture of the Goodyear tires. Don’t try to cover it up. Whoever’s in charge at Goodyear needs to go and say ‘Okay, we’re not firing anyone, we just want to know what happened.’ Because I believe this could be the biggest teaching moment in the history of NASCAR.Denny Hamlin said in his podcast Actions Detrimental
Hamlin urged the Ohio-based tire firm to investigate thoroughly why such an incident initially took place. Moreover, the Toyota driver asserted that Goodyear would need to find out the root cause for the unforeseen tire wear and reduce the tire’s tendency to degrade at such a rapid pace.
On the other hand, Goodyear launched an investigation after the race regarding Bristol’s peculiarly high tire wear. Moreover, the tire manufacturer would be hoping the tire issue to be resolved before the race at COTA this weekend to save the reputation of the brand from tarnishing even further.
