Legacy Motor Club is gearing up for a dynamic 2024 season, shaking things up, and has now brought in a new crew chief at the helm. Jason Burdett, a seasoned figure in NASCAR, steps into the role to lead the No. 84 team which is said to be a part-time driver for the team owner, Jimmie Johnson in the driver’s seat.
The 2024 season marks more than just a change in leadership; it’s a significant shift for Legacy Motor Club. Toyota takes the wheel as the designated manufacturer, showcasing a strategic move to expand its full-time entries. The team’s principal sponsor, AdventHealth, transitions from Trackhouse Racing, lending its support to drivers Erik Jones and Jimmie Johnson in six and three Cup races, respectively.
Burdett played a vital role in Dale Jarrett’s 1999 championship and Jeff Gordon’s 2001 title at HMS. He also teamed with Johnson during his time at HMS. Johnson, expressing his excitement, said in the team’s announcement;
I have a very long history of working with Jason at Hendrick Motorsports – we spent a lot of time together throughout the years. Jason is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met in the sport, he’s solid and he’s created an amazing legacy for himself.
In the No. 84 Toyota Camry XS, the formidable duo eyes triumph in selective races, targeting the Coke 600 at Charlotte. Jason Burdett, with an illustrious record of 13 wins, 78 top-five, and 137 top-10 finishes in his six-year tenure as a NASCAR Xfinity Series crew chief, culminated in 2020 as JRM’s winningest crew chief, consistently guiding his team to the Championship 4.
