Mark Martin is one of the greatest drivers ever to have raced in the NASCAR cup series. He has a legacy that goes way beyond the sport. He was honored by the Las Vegas Motorspeedway last Sunday before the cup playoff race. He made a pace lap in his iconic No:6 car, in which he won the inaugural Vegas race.
The veteran had a warm welcome to the track from fans as well as from the representatives of cup teams. But on this special day, Mark Martin left the track disappointed. He was completely ignored by his former employer Roush Racing, now RFK Racing, a team he drove for 19 years.
None of the RFK representatives or drivers came down to meet the former driver. Even, the team co-owner and the current No:6 car pilot Brad Keselowski didn’t care to shake his hand. Mark Martin was hurt by his former team’s behavior and took to Twitter to express his feelings.
Mark Martin calls out RFK Racing
Mark Martin Tweeted that he was hoping to see someone from RFK Racing but they didn’t. He added that the fan response was overwhelming for him. Mark Martin Tweeted, “I was hoping to see some folks from RFK Racing today but never did. The fan response was overwhelming though. Thank you to each and every one of you,”.
Mark Martin later Tweeted that Jack Roush missed an opportunity of a lifetime to get a picture celebrating the cars 24-year-old win. He Tweeted, “I love Jack Roush with all my heart. I stayed with him for 19 years because he gave me a chance when no one else would. We missed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get a picture together celebrating a 24-year-old car and winning moment,”.
Fans on Twitter agreed with Mark Martin. They were quick to criticize RFK Racing for the lack of appreciation towards their Legend. Some fans also shared their happiness in witnessing Mark Martin in the iconic No:6 once again at Las Vegas.
