NASCAR will hit the Dover Motor speedway on the upcoming Sunday for the DuraMAX Drydene 400 following the chaotic run at Talladega. The 1-mile track, also known as the ‘Monster Mile’, is one of the most unique race tracks in the NASCAR schedule as it is the only Concrete oval in the series and fans will be hoping to witness yet another challenging race.

Martin Truex Jr. who drives the No. 19 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing has had an amazing outing at Dover as he has 3 wins at the track and has 9 top five, 18 top tens, and an overall 996 lap lead at the track in his 31 starts. He has finished P2 three times in his 5 outings in a JGR car since joining them.

Now the 2017 Cup Series Champion has come forth revealing what he believes will happen at Dover in the Next-Gen car debut.

Martin Truex Jr. acknowledged that the Dover race will be a challenge for everyone without a doubt as it is different from every track NASCAR has visited so far this season or in the entire schedule. He went on to say that the variables such as the next-gen car and limited track time will make it difficult for drivers to et everything right at the track. Martin Truex Jr. added that he is looking forward to driving at the track.

It’s going to be a challenge for sure. Dover is different from anything we have raced so far and really different from anywhere we go all year. So that practice is going to be very important. It’s a hard track to get right anyways but throw in the new car and limited track time, it’s going to be difficult. I love going there though, so I’m really looking forward to it,” Martin Truex Jr. said.

Denny Hamlin who secured the first win for the Joe Gibbs racing and Manufacturer Toyota in 2022 acknowledged that it’s another challenge in the concrete tracks and added that it will be interesting to see how the tires will work on the track. He went on to share his optimism that the groove will widen out through the day so that the driver will have more options on the track.

It’s another week and another challenge is the first time we’re on a concrete track with this car. It will be interesting to see how the tire does and how the track takes rubber or if it even takes rubber as we hope. It’s a long race Sunday, so we’ll have our hands full trying to stay on top of it, but hopefully, we will see the groove widen out and give us options as we go through the day,” Denny Hamlin said.
