“Historic day for motorsports in Brazil,”  NASCAR launches the Brasil Sprint Race, its first sanctioned race series in South America

NASCAR has announced its first sanctioned championship in South America. The organization has partnered with the Brazil GT sprint series to launch the “NASCAR Brasil Sprint Race”. The series will kick off next season and will feature some of the most iconic tracks of the country.

This is the 4th international series sanctioned by NASCAR. The other three are the Whelen Euro Series in Europe, the Mexico Series, and the Pinty’s Series in Canada. With the introduction of Brazil; to list NASCAR will have its cars racing in 3 different contents and 12 different countries.

The Brasil Sprint Race will host 18 different road course races on weekends.  The iconic Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace or Interlagos in São Paulo will host one of the races. The full schedule for the season is yet to be announced.

NASCAR’s partner GT Sprint Race has been organizing races since 2012. It was founded by Thiago Marques, one of the greatest of Brazilian stock car racing. He made the series with hopes of standardizing the sport and the partnership with NASCAR is the perfect next step.

NASCAR Vice President of International, Chad Seigler pointed out that they choose Brazil for its first-ever series in South America after taking into account the country’s Rich Motorsports’ history. They also aim at producing racing talents and bringing them to the pinnacle of stock car racing, the NASCAR cup series.

Brazil is a vibrant country, rich in motorsports culture and community, and the perfect location for our first series in South America. NASCAR Brasil Sprint Race will allow us to showcase the exciting side-by-side racing that defines NASCAR while giving Brazilian race fans a series to which they feel connected,” Chad Seigler said.

It is our hope and intention that this series also opens more pathways for the country’s best drivers, mechanics, and engineers to advance to NASCAR’s national series in the United States, the worldwide pinnacle of stock car racing,” Chad Seigler added.

Carlos Col the General Partner, of the NASCAR Brasil Sprint Race, hopes to introduce next-level racing products with the GT series-NASCAR partnership. They have plans to introduce oval track races as well to the series.
