Luke Lambert will follow Noah Gregson to Petty GMS Racing. The Xfinity championship contender was set to replace Ty Dillon in the No:42 car. His current crew chief at JR Motorsports, Lambert, was signed by Petty to join Gregson in his rookie season.

Luke Lambert moved to the Dale Earnhardt Jr.-owned Xfinity series side in 2021 after a 9-year stint in the cup series. He has 332 cup starts under his belt with RCR and RFK Racing. He has won 8 Xfinity races this season with the No:9 JR team. He had won three races last year and finished P3 in the championship.

The Richard Petty-owned team decided to bring Lambert to the team as they believe they can emulate the duo’s Xfinity success in the cup series. Petty GMS, Joey Cohen said, “The chemistry and success they have had this year in the Xfinity Series can’t be replicated, and we know with the right resources and tools that success can carry over to the Cup Series next year,”.

Luke Lambert said that he is looking forward to continuing his journey with Noah Gregson. He added that this year has been fun and rewarding for both. Lambert said, “I’m looking forward to continuing this journey with Noah. This year has been fun and rewarding, and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it,”.

He pointed out that he knew when he joined Dale Earnhardt Jr’s team they will be fighting for the championship. He said, “When I joined JRM, it was because I believed in the organization and knew I’d have the opportunity to compete for race wins and a chance at the championship, and that’s exactly where we are right now,”.

Luke Lambert pointed out that he sees similar opportunities with Petty GMS. He pointed out that he along with Gregson, Erik Jones, and Dave Elenz will continue the success that builds upon the team’s first win that came this season.

I see the same opportunity with Petty GMS. They’ve shown great growth this season and were able to get the team’s first win. With Dave and Erik, along with what Noah and I bring to the table, I think we’ll continue to see that success and contend for race wins next season,” Luke Lambert said.
