Legacy Motor Club has announced that their rookie driver and 2022 Xfinity Series runner-up Noah Gragson will not race the No:42 car at Sonoma. He is sidelined after suffering concussion-like symptoms due to the crash at Gateway last Sunday. He is the first full-time Cup driver to miss a Cup race this season due to the aftermath of a NASCAR race crash.
Gragson was evaluated and released from the infield care center last week following a heavy crash at World Wide Technology Raceway last Sunday. But once the younger got homes, he started suffering concussion-like symptoms. Jimmie Johnson’s team has sat him out due to concerns over his health and well-being.
“Noah’s health is the highest of priorities and we commend him for making the decision to sit out this weekend. We are appreciative that Grant was available and willing to step in since the Truck Series is off this weekend,” Legacy MC said in a statement released.
The 2023 season so far hasn’t been kind to Gregson on the track. The No:42 team has failed to give him a competitive ride, and the hardships of being a rookie have also taken a toll on him. He has finished inside the Top 20 twice this season and has scored finishes outside the Top 30 eight times in 15 races. The car is one of the slowest on the track, played a big part in it.

Truck series veteran Grant Enfinger will make his Cup debut in Noah Gragson’s car
22015 ARCA Series champion and Truck veteran Grant Enfinger will drive the No. 42 Sunseeker Chevrolet. He has seven Truck Series wins in his career. Two came this season, with the latest one coming last weekend at Gateway. It will be his Cup series debut.
“My thoughts are with Noah, I know how much he loves this team and the guys on it. I’m happy to help out Legacy Motor Club and the No. 42 team,” Grant Enfinger said about the Cup opportunity, which he has been waiting for a long time.
Gragson is the third driver in the last six months to have suffered a concussion. Veteran Kurt Busch has been out of his 23XI Racing car since last year due to a concussion, and HMS’s Alex Bowman sat out most of the 2022 playoff due to the same issue.
