Accusations of discrimination against white males have recently targeted Rev Racing, an organization actively engaged in promoting diversity within NASCAR. The allegations have sparked a response from NASCAR Xfinity driver Ryan Vargas, who expressed his strong support for Rev Racing’s efforts and the importance of their Drive for Diversity (D4D) program.

The accusations against Rev Racing were brought forth by America First Legal, led by Stephen Miller, a former adviser to President Donald Trump. The complaint was filed with the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), alleging that NASCAR and Rev Racing discriminated against white male Americans through their diversity programs.

Ryan Vargas took to social media to defend Rev Racing and the D4D program. He expressed his disappointment with the accusations, highlighting the fundamental idea behind D4D. On his X account, he wrote:

It’s so incredibly disappointing to see how dense some people are. The idea behind D4D is to allow minority & female drivers, who may not have the means to continue racing, have a shot in NASCAR’s feeder ranks. It creates OPPORTUNITY for minority drivers in this sport.”

Ryan Vargas claimed that the news about such an accusation has made him ‘sick’

Rev Racing has laid the foundations for many of the current NASCAR drivers. Championship 4 contender, 2021 Cup Series champion Kyle Larson is one of them. Accusations of discrimination should be considered within the broader context of these efforts, which seek to level the playing field and foster diversity in NASCAR.

Vargas shared a personal story to emphasize the impact of Rev Racing’s efforts. He wrote,:

In 2017, my parents said we were done racing. We couldn’t afford it. Rev allowed me to continue racing. And has allowed many other minority and female drivers to continue their dream. Seeing this “news” made me sick that people out there can’t grasp this concept.

Ryan Vargas’s racing journey began in 2012, driving Bandolero cars at Irwindale Speedway. Over the years, he steadily progressed through various racing categories, including Super Stock and Super Late Model racing, honing his skills and gaining valuable experience. In 2018, Ryan Vargas joined forces with Rev Racing, participating in a full season of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.

Despite early challenges, his unwavering determination led to a remarkable sixth-place finish in the season’s points standings, marking a pivotal milestone in his racing journey. His stint with Rev Racing propelled him into the NASCAR world, offering vital exposure and opportunities. While he didn’t return to Rev Racing in 2019, his career progressed, leading him to compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series that same year.
