Hailie Deegan, one of NASCAR’s most promising female drivers, has made the much-awaited move to the Xfinity Series. She will race for AM Racing in 2024, driving the No:15 Ford Mustang. For 22 years, the racer has longed for the opportunity as she hasn’t been able to adapt to the unforgiving third tier of NASCAR, the Truck, despite racing for three years in the series.
The last three season has been significantly underwhelming for the California native since getting promoted from the ARCA series. From the 67 starts Deegan has made in the third tier, she has scored just five top-10 finishes. The 2023 season has been disappointing as he could not produce any solid runs with championship-caliber ThorSports. She is 19th in the championship standings with two more races left in the season.
But 2024 will give her the challenge the opportunity she was hoping for since, as claimed by many NASCAR analysts previously, the Truck Series never really suited her style. With AMR, a midfield team, she can prove herself and land the Cup seat in a handful of years, as she hopes. She will be the first full-time female Xfinity driver in a long time.
While talking about her move, the former ARCA rookie of the season pointed out that AMR is a great team, and her vision aligns with the AMR leaders. She added that she was excited to accomplish the goals together and admitted that she is eager to start a whole new and the biggest chapter of her racing career.
“I am excited about the opportunity to compete full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, starting next year with AM Racing; from the start, the team has been nothing but great to work with, and the vision that Wade [Moore, team president] has for the team to accomplish align with my values perfectly,” Deegan said as reported by RACER.

Here is how fans reacted to Hailie Deegan’s Xfinity contract announcement
While there are a lot of fans who rejoice that Deegan is getting the opportunity to race in the top division and that the female presence in the sport is increasing, there is also some criticism. She is one of the most device characters in the sport due to her run-ins with some fan favorites in the Truck series, and her detest towards female racers from a small session of the NASCAR community is a reason for it.
Most of the critics are being unfair towards the Ford athlete. They overlook her performance in the ARCA series, her part-time starts in the Xfinity Series, and her impressive performance in the SRX Series against championship-winning NASCAR drivers. While her fame has definitely played a part in signing there, fame and money won’t give everything in the sport for long. If not for her talent, she would’ve been out of the sport a long time ago.
