Brodie Kostecki is an Australian Supercars driver. He drives the No.99 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Erebus Motorsport. The 25-year-old will compete in NASCAR in a few weeks. Kostecki will make his Cup Series debut with Richard Childress Racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course Cup race. The event is scheduled for August 13th. Kostecki’s NASCAR debut comes a month after Supercars legend Shane van Gisbergen won the inaugural Chicago Street race for Trackhouse Racing’s Project 91.
However, there is a difference between the two Supercars drivers making their debut. While van Gisbergen did not have prior experience in NASCAR, Brodie Kostecki raced in the ARCA Menards East Series in 2013 and 2014. He ran 16 races with one top-5 finish and four top-10 finishes. The 25-year-old also lived in North Carolina from 2012-2017 and then moved back to Australia.
The Supercars ace has some experience of what it is like to be a NASCAR driver. When Brodie Kostecki raced in ARCA, his competitors were Cup drivers like Daniel Suarez and Bubba Wallace. His best finish was fifth place at Dover. Kostecki will again compete with Suarez and Wallace in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No.33 Camaro. It is safe to say he is thrilled to make his Cup debut in August.

Brodie Kostecki says it is an honor to compete against some big names in motorsport

Kostecki told the official Supercars site, “I am thrilled to be making my NASCAR Cup debut at the Brickyard. It’s an honor to compete at such an iconic venue and against some of the biggest names in motorsport. I’m incredibly grateful to RCR for giving me this opportunity, and I’m determined to make the most of it.”
He added, “Racing is at the core of everything I do, and NASCAR has been a lifelong goal of mine after spending years growing up in the sport’s heartland in North Carolina. It’s a whole different world over there and any additional time I can spend racing is only going to help me try and win my first Supercars Championship.” Brodie believes his NASCAR experience would help him secure a Supercars championship.
Kostecki and other members of the Erebus Motorsport team visited RCR last month. He claimed they got great exposure to the “inner sanctum of the team” during the recent trip. The 25-year-old is excited to compete in NASCAR’s top-tier series. Kostecki’s NASCAR announcement came two weeks after Shane van Gisbergen’s win in Chicago.
His team Erebus CEO Barry Ryan, has been encouraging Brodie’s NASCAR pursuit. Ryan believes in providing his driver with the chance to excel in other racing series, and he hopes it will enhance Brodie’s skills. MobileX and VAILO, an Australian technology company, will sponsor him for his upcoming Cup race. It is safe to say that Shane van Gisbergen’s success in NASCAR has motivated other drivers to try their hand in the Cup series.
