It was recently announced that Supercars star Brodie Kostecki will make his NASCAR debut at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course race. He will compete part-time in the Cup race with Richard Childress Racing driving the No.33 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The 25-year-old is excited to compete in NASCAR’s top-tier series and is thankful for the opportunity.

After Shane van Gisbergen’s iconic record-breaking debut win in NASCAR’s inaugural Chicago Street race, Kostecki becomes the second Supercars driver to make his NASCAR debut. Brodie Kostecki and van Gisbergen will compete in the Indy road course race in August. The latter will make his second start for Trackhouse Racing’s Project 91 program.

After Shane van Gisbergen’s NASCAR debut, there has been an increase in U.S. viewers in Supercars. This contributed to Supercars backing Brodie Kostecki. Shane Howard, Supercars CEO, told the media, “We’re very excited to be backing Brodie and his team on his NASCAR debut with the SuperView advertisement.” He also explained that Supercars drivers in NASCAR would boost interest in their series.

Howard added, “Shane van Gisbergen’s spectacular victory earlier this month was seen around the globe, and we received more than 14,000 expressions of interest in SuperView within days after the win. That resulted in more than two million views on our website for our Townsville event one week later and 3.3 million YouTube minutes watched over the same period.” Hence, they are eager to fund Kostecki on his NASCAR debut.

The Supercars CEO explained that this partnership between them, Kostecki, and the RCR team is an excellent opportunity for them to showcase the streaming quality and coverage of SuperView. Van Gisbergen’s win paved the way for other drivers to try their hand at NASCAR. It is understood that many Supercars drivers could end up racing in NASCAR in a few years.

Shane van Gisbergen will likely move to the States to pursue full-time racing in the Cup Series. However, he has not made any official statements. Meanwhile, Brodie Kostecki also has long-term NASCAR ambitions. It remains to be seen how he will fare in his NASCAR debut. There is a high expectation for the two Supercars drivers for the Indy race.
