‘The car has been a positive surprise for me,’ NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. is intrigued with how the 2022 cup season with the next-Gen Car

NASCAR made introduced the Next-Generation of stock cars to the premium racing sport at the start of the 2022 season with the main objective of making the cup race more competitive with the less financial burden on team owners. The new car so far has been impressed with its performance though some of its shortcomings prompt opinions against the Next-Gen cars, hard to ignore the fact that it definitely made the races more competitive.
As the season the first race since the mid-season break coming in Nashville Raceway, the Ally 400, the broadcasting of the race will also see some changes as NBC takes over the coverage from Fox for the rest of the season and a share of playoff races which will also include the final race of the season. As the fight for playoff spots intensifies the upcoming races will be surely amazing events to watch.
NASCAR Hall of Famer and one of the widely respected and famous drivers in the Cup series history Dale Earnhart Jr. in his recent interview before taking over the broadcast as a sports analyst for NBC has reviewed how the 2022 season so far has played out for the sport. He claims that the duction of the Next-Gen cars and how they performed has surprised him a lot.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. acknowledged how much a positive surprise some of the racing with the Next-Gen has been for the team as there were some moments of concern and intrigue. He went on to say that the teams and NASCAR are putting a lot of effort into perfecting the Next-Gen cars pointing out to the tire test that is going on in Martinsville, as they are working on perfecting the race package for coming races.
“I think the car has been a positive surprise for me in how some of the racing has looked. There were some moments there was some concern or intrigue. We know there’s a tire test at Martinsville right now and they’re working on that package and getting it right so it puts on the race we anticipated. I think they’re putting a lot of effort into trying to ensure they can improve there,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.
He went on to say that the car has been way more enterprising than he expected it to be, especially in the mile and halve tracks. He went on to say that there had just been some really awesome moments in the way the drivers were able to race around each other that was better than what he anticipated.
“I’ll be honest, man, it’s been a way more entertaining car than I expected at the mile-and-a-halve (tracks). There have just been some really awesome moments in the way the drivers are able to race around each other and that’s much better than I anticipated,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. added.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. went on to say that though he expected the Next-Gen cars to be a steep learning curve and a lot of collaboration between NASCAR teams has enabled them to overcome those constraints. He added that the evolved car has definitely good right out of the gate saying “I expected it to come with a steep learning curve and a lot of collaboration between NASCAR and the teams to continue to evolve this car, but it’s actually been really good right out of the gate,” says Dale Earnhardt Jr.
