NASCAR introduced the Next-Gen car to the premier Stock car racing series at the beginning of the 2022 season with the main objective f making the race more competitive and financially more sustainable along with adopting some international standard technologies. The 2022 season so far has been among the competitive ones in NASCAR though some fans might disagree, it is a testament to how good the Next-Gen car has been in leveling the playing field.

With just 10 races left in the regular season to finish 12 drivers have already marked their place at the playoffs and with just a handful of places left to fill drivers will be going hard at each of the coming races starting with Ally 400 in Nashville. The race will also mark the transfer of Cup broadcasting from Fox to NBC for the further coverage of the race. Bow NBC sports analyst and NASCAR legend Jeff Burton has come forth expressing his opinion on the cup race as he waits to welcome NASCAR to NBC.

Jeff Burton acknowledged that there now exits a heavyweight fight right now for the limited playoff spots available as he points out that every stage end and race finish matters from the upcoming race weekends at Nashville. He went on to say that the quality of racing has gone through the roof with the introduction of Next-Gen cars and other radical changes that came with it. Jeff Burton added that the intensity and aggressiveness are high this season and this makes everything that happens much more important going forward.

Jeff Burton went on to say that the quality of racing the Next-Gen car has produced is amazing as the cup races have witnessed drivers pushing themselves to the limit in the come some time getting rewarded other times spinning out. He pointed out that the car demands drivers to push it to the limits to get high performance, though there is a chance of wreck Jeff Burton went on to say that he doesn’t want drivers to wreck themselves pushing the car too hard but wants to see hard racing in difficult situations.

The quality of racing that we’ve seen is amazing. We’re seeing guys spinning out by themselves. We’re seeing that you’re rewarded for really pushing the limits of this car,” Jeff Burton said.

If you’re not willing to push the limits of this car, you probably can’t go fast enough. If you are willing to push the limit of the car, you’re probably going to wreck a bit. Not that we want to see drivers wrecking, but we want to see drivers put in a situation where it is really difficult. There’s no possible way anybody can look at this car and say we aren’t there,” Jeff Burton added.
