ThorSport Racing didn’t just sign Hailie Deegan because she is a female racer
Hailie Deegan
ThorSport Racing has announced its driver’s lineup for the 2023 Truck series season. The 4-driver lineup includes a new face, Hailie Deegan, the California-born female NASCAR driver. She will drive full-time in the cup series for the No:13 team and will also run a part-time schedule for the ThorSport Xfinity series team.
She lost her ride at the end of the 2022 season at DGR after they joined the Toyota garage and rebranded themselves as TRICON. Being a Ford athlete, she had no choice but to look for another team under the manufacturer. She was hoping for an Xfinity series promotion but failed to find a suitable group to race in 2023. ThorSport used the uncertain situation to its advantage in hiring budding talent.
By hiring a female racer, ThorSport has opened up new opportunities on and off the track. She is one of the most followed athletes in NASCAR, bringing in a big market for sponsors to explore. It’s a luxury most of their male counterparts don’t have. She also has the potential to win multiple races for the team, and ThorSport is aware that it is its responsibility to ensure her success by providing her with the right tools.
Allison Thorson, Advisor and Spokesperson for ThorSport Racing, acknowledged that the team understands what Deegan brings to the table as a female racer. He said, “Immediately, I know from our management perspective, we had open arms and thought there was a lot of potential. She has a large following and a lot of backing. Obviously, being a female driver, she brings a lot to the table,”.
He added that the team is focused on helping Deegan reach her goals. Thorson said, “We know she’s got many potentials and can fulfill it. We feel like we have those key parts and, as she said, pieces to the puzzle to make her meet her goals and exceed her goals and make new goals,”.

Invaluable experience surrounds Hailie Deegan in ThorSport Racing
Deegan will team up with three times Truck champion Matt Crafton, 2021 champion Ben Rhodes, and two-time race winner Ty Majeski in 2023. Her crew chief for 23 season is Rich Lushes, who led Rhodes to the championship in 2021. The experience and expertise surrounding the team will surlily benefit her voyage towards a potential Cup ride.
Hailie Deegan expects many quality conversations with her new crew and teammates that could help her in the future. She hopes to produce quality moments at the track with the backing of experienced campaigners.
“There’s just so much experience that I’m lacking that they have had over the years. I don’t even have questions yet, but I will in the future that they’ll be able to answer. I think there’s just gonna be so many quality conversations and so many quality moments at the track that they’re really gonna help out and be that kind of person who has my back,” Hailie Deegan said.
She is also expecting a family-type Scenario within the team. Deegan said, “I can see already that the whole aspect over here and part of it is being close-knit, being like a family-type scenario, and I think that having a team like that who has those relationships is what makes drivers feel comfortable and excel in their career,”.
