Day of Thunder is an American sports action film released in 1990 by Paramount Pictures. The film was directed by Tony Scott and had an iconic cast, including Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Randy Quaid, Robert Duvall, Micheal Rooker, and others. NASCAR legends like Richard Petty, Rusty Wallace, Harry Gant, and Neil Bonnett made a cameo in the movie. Though the film received mixed reactions back then, NASCAR fans considered it one of the best movies.
According to Giant Freakin Robot, Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski and Hollywood star Tom Cruise are reuniting again on the Days of Thunder sequel. The first project they worked on was Oblivion in 2013. And years later, they are collaborating on the iconic racing movie. Days of Thunder was successful, but not like Top Gun, and hence, the team hopes to make the sequel grand.
Last March, The Hollywood Reporter published a story on Tom Cruise’s alleged legal clash with Paramount Pictures. It was over the distribution rights to Mission: Impossible – Dead Recking, Part One. As per the reports, Tom Cruise also strangled the idea of Paramount’s pitch for the Days of Thunder series and the Mission: Impossible series. However, Cruise might have turned down the offer to the Days of Thunder series because of a possible sequel.
