2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship leader John Hunter Nemechek has announced that he and his wife, Tylor, have welcomed their second daughter. The couple has named her Penelope James Nemechek. Young Penelope will join her big sister Aspen, who always comes to races to support her dad every other race.

The Joe Gibbs Racing No:20 car driver was among the number of NASCAR drivers on baby watch over the last two months. Cup drivers AJ Allmendinger and Ryan Preece were among the drivers expecting babies. The surge in NASCAR dads was because the previous two months aligned well with the nine-month pregnancy period from the 2022 post-season.

Nemechek, who drove Kyle Busch Motorsports for two years before getting the Xfinity promotion in 2023, announced the news via his official X handle (previously Twitter). He shared an image of the family with the newborn and shared her name in the caption. From the photo, it seems that the mother and the newborn are safe and healthy.

Nemechek joined KBM in the 2020 season after losing his Cup seat at Front Raw Motorsports to restart his career and earn back the Cup seat. Following two impressive seasons in the third tier, he got a promotion to the Xfinity Series, replacing Ty Gibbs, who earned a Cup promotion.

He now leads the second-tier championship with five wins from 23 races. The TRD driver hasn’t finished outside of the top 10 in just six races so far and has finished outside the top 30 just thrice. He and RCR’s Austin Hill have been going back and forth in the championship and are expected to see the scores in the season finale.

He might also fulfill his Cup return dream in 2024 with the Legacy Motor Club’s Toyota move. They have a seat vacant following Noah Gragson’s controversial exit from the team. Being the top prodigy under the manufacturer, the chance of him not getting the seat is minimal.
