Carl Edwards is the latest addition to NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers list. The 2023 season marks NASCAR’s 75th-anniversary celebration, and as a part of that, a new group of 25 “Greatest” drivers will be honored. Carl Edwards is a former stock car racing driver. He last completed in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and drove the No.19 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing. Before that, he drove the No.99 Ford Fusion for Roush Fenway Racing.

Edwards has 28 Cup Series win, 22 poles, and 220 top-ten finishes in the 445 races run over 13 years. His final cup win was in 2016 at Fort Worth. After every win, he balanced in his car’s window opening to do his famous backflip. Edwards did not win a Cup title, but he did come close to it on two occasions. He finished second to Jimmie Johnson in 2008 and Tony Stewart in 2011.

He was the series’ Most Popular Driver in 2007.

Edwards ran 60 races over five years in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He had six wins, 35 top-ten finishes, and four poles. Edwards was named the 2003 Rookie of the Year as he was top 10 in the points in his two full Truck Series seasons (2003-2004). Edwards left racing in 2016 at the age of 36, although he had more to offer and was still at the top. He had offers from team owners and reports of him at NASCAR races. However, he did not show interest in returning to the sport.
