A.J. Allmendinger has once again proved that he is ‘the best there is, the best there was, and probably the best there ever will be’ in the Xfinity Road Courses races, at COTA. Dinger scored his 11th Xfinity Road Course win, marking his 16th win in the series. The 41 years old overcame an early race mishap and an impressive William Byron to earn the 0.853s win.

The No:10 Kaulig Racing driver started the race at the pole, led the first 14 laps, and was having a solid day until a mid-race green flag pitstop dropped him down to P25. Unlike the ovals, climbing to the top of Road Courses is no easy task, and Dinger proved why he is considered the best after retaking the lead with just 14 laps remaining in the no-stage break race.

I spent a lot of years not winning anything so I’m going to celebrate every one of them like it’s my last one. You never know. As much pressure as I put on myself, I’m always going to try to live up to it. The pit crew was awesome, and I’m so proud of everyone,” AJ Allmendinger said.

I was getting one final run at him, but obviously, they were really good all day, just great at these road courses. Just had a little bit to gain and then made a mistake (navigating the esses). It was a great effort, just need to clean it up in the cars…but had a lot of fun racing,” Byron said about his P2.

2022 Xfinity series champion Ty Gibbs finished P3 in the race, which marked his first race in the series since Phoniex in November 2022.  JGR’s Sammy Smith and JRM’s Justin Allgaier secured the reaming spots in the top 5. Kaulig’s Daniel Hemric, JRM’s Sam Mayer and Josh Berry, Creed, and Stewart-Haas Racing’s Riley Herbst rounded out the top 10.

Fans had a mixed reaction to Dinger’s win; while some fans were quick to congratulate the veteran, others weren’t that pleased. They were quick to troll him for humping Shelton Creed, who was positioned perfectly for a win, in his march for the race lead.
