Jimmie Johnson will return to the Cup series in 2023 as an owner-driver, for now, re-branded Legacy Motor Club. He will drive the No:84 Chevy Camaro ZL1 and will make his Next-Gen car debut at the Daytona 500. The ex-HMS driver will fight for the two slots that are available for open entries in the Great American Race.

Legacy M.C. has released the paint scheme that Johnson will use in Florida, and it has few resemblances to the paint schemes he used during his time at Rick Hendrick’s garage. His team number represents the iconic No:48 car in which Johnson won his 7 Cup titles and his chase for his 84th career win.

The primary sponsor of the No:84 car is Carvana. The online used car retailer was the primary sponsor of the veteran’s IndyCar campaign last season. The car has a dark blue base with sky blue and yellow stripes. The team number is engraved on the white sides, and the roof in yellow. It might be one of Johnson’s most eye-catching paint schemes in his NASCAR career.

Xfinity Series drivers Austin Hill and Zane Smith are the major opponents Johnson might have to outrace in the qualifiers to race on Sunday night. He might also have stiff competition from Rallycross and Motocross legend Travis Pastrana who will reportedly represent 23X1 Racing in their third entry in Daytona.

Fans were really excited to see the legend Car and the paint scheme. The reactions were mostly positive, but some shared concerns over Carvana’s status as a sponsor as the company is reportedly nearing bankruptcy. Some fans commented that they are eager to buy the Diecast car when it is out.
