NASCAR has announced the third driver to the list of 75 greatest drivers of all-time list. Late modified series legend Mike Stefanik joins Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne in the new 25-membered list. The reaming 50 spots were already filled by the 50 greatest drivers list made in 1998. He was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2022. He was named in the list of “NASCAR Modified All-Time Top 10 Drivers” in 2003.

He started his premier stock car racing career in 1985, driving in the Modified Tour, now the Whelen Modified Tour. Over nearly three decades, Stefanik has driven for 14 different teams and 4 different manufacturers. He has won races with all 4 of them. The legendary driver won the series championship 7 times, winning back-to-back championships twice. His final run in the series came in 2014 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, where he finished P10.

Mike Stefanik has never driven in the Cup series but has scored respectful finishes in the Truck and Xfinity series. He made his NASCAR debut in the Xfinity series in 1992 and scored a p6 on debut. From the 26 starts he made in the series over the years, he could never have better that result. He made his Truck series debut in 1998, and in 1999, he ran a full-time season, which was also his last, and scored his best race finish of P2.

Fans also saw the Legends racing masterclass in the Busch North series. He won 11 races and two championships while competing in the championship for 13 seasons. He passed away in 2019 due to the severe injuries he suffered due to an airplane crash. The unfortunate incident took place in Sterling, Connecticut.

The NASCAR fans online had a mixed reaction to the late legend’s induction, mainly due to the fact that he never made it to the pinnacle of stock car racing. Some fans pointed out his exploits in the modified series make him eligible for the honor. While some argued that he didn’t prove himself at the top, so he doesn’t deserve to be named among other NASCAR legends.
