NASCAR Cup driver Bubba Wallace’s Netflix documentary series “Race: Bubba Wallace” has been nominated for the 2023 Sports Emmy Award. The list was announced on April 12, and he is against 4 other hit series. The Motorsports world has another nominee to vouch for alongside Wallace’s. Formula 1-based docu-series Drive to Survive has been nominated.

Race: Bubba Wallace talks about the personal and professional life of the 23XI Racing driver. It sheds light on the tribbles of childhood and the depression Wallace suffers, his relationship with his wife Amanda Waller, and the controversial noose incident alongside many other behind the scene incidents.

The series has six episodes. The first episode discusses Wallace’s rise in NASCAR, the Covid-19 pandemic, and racial injustice in America. Episode 2 discusses his Daytona 500 entry with the Richard Petty’s Cup team. The third episode dives deep into the discrimination against racial minorities in NASCAR. The fourth episode of the series discusses the depression he suffered from, while episode 5 is about the Noose incident. The final episode was about Wallace embracing the Cup challenge.

The first nominee is Coach Prime, a series about the 2022 season of College football coach Deion Sanders. NFL reality sports documentary Hard Knock’s 17th season got the next nomination. East Mississippi Community College Football team’s story Last Chance U, secured the final nomination.
