Two NASCAR drivers were issued charges of Driving While Impaired (DWI) after being arrested earlier this month. However, both cases are unrelated. Jason White, a part-time Xfinity and Craftsman Truck Series driver, was arrested at 5:42 PM on Thursday, August 3rd. The Huntersville police department brought him in for drunken driving. Meanwhile, Chris Hacker, another part-time NASCAR Xfinity and Craftsman Truck Series driver was arrested on Tuesday, August 15th, for the same reason.
Both incidents occurred at Huntersville, and the police department confirmed the details to TobyChristie.com. As per the records, Chris Hacker was charged with driving under the influence and is scheduled to appear in court on September 19th. According to the North Carolina Judicial Branch, Hacker faces additional charges for Reckless driving to endanger, speeding, and for not wearing a seat belt.
The standard procedure for drunken driving arrest in North Carolina is to revoke the driver’s license for 30 days. This rule was applied to Jason White and Chris Hacker. According to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, there are five levels of misconduct, from level V to level I, and the penalties differ. Level V is the most lenient, with a fine of up to $200 and a jail sentence from 24 hours to 60 days. Meanwhile, the Level I penalty includes up to a $4,000 fine and a jail sentence from 30 days to 2 years.
How good was Jason White in the 2023 NASCAR season?
Jason White returned to the Truck Series almost after a decade in February. He drove the No.1 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro for Tricon Garage at Daytona and finished 15th. Recently, the 44-year-old tried to qualify for an Xfinity Series event at Talladega Superspeedway for MBM motorsports. Although, he missed it. White made his Xfinity debut in 1999 and has 214 starts in the National Series. His best Truck finish was second place at Michigan in 2012.
Jason White is also the president of Motorsports for CMR Roofing and is a long-time sponsor of Ryan Sieg and RSS Racing in the Xfinity Series. However, their company logos were missing from the No.39 Ford at Indianapolis. TobyChristie.com reported that this incident had nothing to do with the DWI (DUI) arrest.
