23XI Racing’s Tyler Reddick had just another race that ended in disappointment following “stupid mistakes” on the pit road. The No:45 team and Bubba Wallace’s No:23 team missed out on multiple race wins last season due to mistakes from the 23XI pit crew and the Vegas incident indicates that there aren’t any major changes happening anytime soon.
Reddick was in the fight for the race win with Kyle Larson who dominated in the race but the pit-stop misshape was enough to ruin the race for Reddick. He finished the race 0.4 seconds behind the No:5 Chevy. Larson’s impressive defensive display played a major role in the HMS victory.
While talking about the finish post-race, Reddick admitted that is frustrating to miss out on wins again and again due to pit-stop issues. What hurts more is the fact that he finished second in the race. He would be hoping that the issues won’t continue for the reminder of the year.
Second sucks. We should’ve been up there battling before the final laps. We had to fight back all day. You’ve gotta run up front all day long. When asked what we need to do to get better, that’s the very thing. Didn’t do it today.Reddick told Performance Racing Network.
In case you missed it:
A car issue ruined Tyler Reddick’s teammate Bubba Wallace’s race
The day was as frustrating for Bubba Wallace as it was for Tyler Reddick. The No:23 Toyota started the race at P5, and with the back-to-back top-5 finishes he had was confident that he could secure at least another top-5 if he wasn’t fighting for the win.
But things didn’t go as planned on the second stage, which was already ruined by a car issue, saw him pit and get caught up their for multiple laps. The lug nut of his tire got stuck and the team had to work a long time to finally get it off.
Going into the next weekend, both driver would be hoping that their crew keep their cool and do a good job. 23XI has proven multiple times that they can field superior machinery, but they are not able to fix their major weakness, the pit crew.
