Two times Xfinity Series Champion Tyler Reddick, for the first time since he made his 23X1 Racing debut, secured a Top 10 finish. The No:45 Toyota Camry driver secured a P3 finish and had the opportunity to convert it into a first TRD cup win. He failed to make his good start in the final restart count while his HMS counterpart William Byron took the win.
Reddick’s first three races with 23XI were disappointing as he took time to acclimatize himself to the new car. The pain of struggle might have intensified when he witnessed his replacement at Richard Childress Racing, Kyle Busch, scoring front-row finishes and a win at Fontana.
Reddick, when asked about what went wrong for him in the final restart, pointed out that he screwed up his opportunity for a win. He failed to use the four-tire advantage he had in the final restart since all three drivers that were in Infront of him had only two fresh tires.
“I just screwed it up honestly. We had a really good The Beast Unleashed Toyota Camry TRD. We had a really good restart – the one before that. We were the first one with four tires. I just didn’t launch with William (Bryon) like I needed to, and I let him get away,” Tyler Reddick said.
“Unfortunate to be on a tire advantage and not take advantage of it. It was a great call by Billy (Scott, crew chief) and everyone on this No. 45 23XI Toyota Camry TRD. I just need to get it done for them. We will keep working on it.” Tyler Reddick added.

Tyler Reddick is frustrated with his mis-execution

The former RCR driver, while discussing his race, pointed out that he lacked proper execution in the restart, and it is a frustrating situation. He said, “I just needed to execute on that restart. Just didn’t get the launch I needed to and wasn’t on William’s (Bryon) back bumper to take advantage of it in turn one. It’s very frustrating naturally – I think last year kind of the same thing,”.
“I didn’t have the best of restarts and finished third. Everyone on The Beast Unleashed Toyota Camry TRD did a really good job. This car was solidly like a third-to-fifth place car all day long, so to bring it home third is great but obviously when you are on four and you get position there at the end with that restart, you want to capitalize, so frustrating for sure,” Reddick added.
The podium finish shouldn’t be downplayed, as he was the most dominant TRD driver alongside Denny Hamlin and Cristopher Bell on Sunday. He also outraces his teammate Bubba Wallace for the first time this season. The result also points to Toyota, as the team needs to level up to secure a win In the upcoming race and races beyond.
