The Kansas playoff race was a day of mixed emotions for Michael Jordan’s 23XI Racing. They successfully extended the No:45 cars winning streak at the 1.5-mile track as Tyler Reddick survived the final restart to secure a win over his team’s co-owner, Denny Hamlin. But his teammate Bubba Wallace’s day ended in a disappointing P32 finish despite having a solid car.

Everything went south for Wallace, who had won the Kansas fall event last year on lap 108 after a right rear tire failure. He was running very close to the wall, and as the car got loose, he slammed onto the wall. His team fixed the car, and the Toyota driver was sent back to the field multiple laps down. He secured a P32 finish and has found himself 19 points down from the R-12 cutline.

While talking about Bubba Wallace’s incident, Reddick pointed out that the team will discuss the tire failure and said that his experience with such issues last year will help the team to understand the situation better.  He said that he hated to see that happening to his teammate, considering he had a fast car that deserved to fight for the win till the end.

Yeah, we’ll definitely talk about it tomorrow on our debriefs. But I think there’s been some things that I’ve been through last year that may help just everyone understand maybe what exactly happened. I had a lot of flats last year…I hate to see that. They had a really solid car. They would have certainly contended the rest of the day as well,” Reddick said in his post-race interview.

Reddick went on to explain his plans for the upcoming race at Bristol the coming week. He said that the No:45 teams plan to make the car as fast as possible and also help the No:23 team secure a spot in the Round of 12.

I guess nothing really changes. We’re going to go into Bristol preparing this week coming up, trying to make our car as fast as possible, for me obviously, but for also trying to get everything we can to help the 23 team out. Hopefully, we can go in there with a lot of speed and contend,” he said.

It’s the first time in his Cup career that Reddick is securing a spot in the Round of 12 in the playoffs. In the last two seasons, he made it to R-16 only to get eliminated following underwhelming performances. Kansas also made the first muti-race winning season for the 23XI No:45 team.
