Alex Bowman’s teammate Chase Elliott returned to the garage after six races sidelined due to an injury two weeks ago.

Alex Bowman and Kyle Larson
Rick Hendrick has another headache as Alex Bowman is sidelined for at least three race weeks. The Ally sponsored got into a crash in the sprint car racing series organized by his teammate Kyle Larson. He fractured his vertebra and will take at least three weeks to recover. Bowman is yet to score a win this season and hence will have to work twice as much to secure playoffs.
Bowman’s No:48 car collided with the No:2 of his opponent coming into the corner. Both cars got airborne, with the No:2 having the most dramatic time. Alex Bowman’s car flipped and landed awkwardly in the middle of the track while the No:2 was landed on the run-off area. The HMS driver was given medical attention at the local hospital. He underwent another medical analysis once he got back to Charlotte.
The No:48 car will be driven by Josh Berry, who replaced Chase Elliott when he was out for six races this season after a tibia injury. The HMS boss said, “We’re relieved Alex is home, in good spirits, and getting world-class treatment. Giving him ample time and the foremost resources to heal is our top priority. He’s having a tremendous season, and the No. 48 is at the top of its game. We know what Josh is capable of in the race car and that Blake [Harris, crew chief] and the team will continue operating at a high level until Alex is ready to return. He has our full, unequivocal support,”.
HMS will request a medical waiver as they did with Chase Elliott so that the No:48 remains eligible for the playoff and championships. Bowman has been among the most consistent drivers of 2023 as he finished inside the top 10 ins all but 4 out of the first ten races of 2023. He secured the best finish of P3 twice this season and has been a contender for the win in most races.
